Front Runner
The front runner is an underdog because they are not expected to win the race. Here is the thing though, a front runner is one who takes risk. They bet on themselves. They run their race. They run to win. In this podcast, I will be interviewing friends who are Front Runners. Not in the literal track and field sense but the underdogs who dared to take risks, who bet on themselves, who are determined to run their own race. Who run to WIN. They lead from the front and as they say in track and field they leave it all on the track.

Dr. Andrea Mata, the daughter of a Mexican immigrant, grew up in a gang infested neighborhood on the southside of Chicago. At 11 years old, her life dramatically changed, and it fueled a desire to become a clinical child psychologist and specialize in treating antisocial and aggressive behaviors in children and teens in the hopes that other families would never experience what she went through.
In 2021, she left a tenured position to live out her life’s mission of fortifying families by starting BrightSpot Families where she teaches coping, relationship, and parenting skills. In 2023, she delivered a powerful TEDx Talk, titled From Murder to Mission: How I Found My Life’s Calling, that’s available on YouTube.

Vernard “The Laugh Therapist” Hines is a husband, father, 20-year retired Army Iraq War Veteran. He is a clean comedian who delivers a deathly dose of comedy that fills your heart with laughter and your soul with joy. His style of comedy blends Family, Faith, and Mental Health Awareness.
The Laugh therapist is a radio host on the Jamal Bates Morning Show. He also serves as a peer recovery specialist at inpatient residential facility for veterans. He has a B.S. in Biblical Studies from Minnesota Graduate School of Theology. He was the opener for How Sweet the Sound Gospel Competition in 2022.
